|NOVEMBER DONATION DRIVE – OPEN DOOR SHELTER|
Open Door Shelter’s mission is to address the causes and complexities of the homeless and working poor by providing shelter, food, clothing, case management services, affordable and supportive housing, education, employment, and a path towards independence.
They are in need of gently used winter coats/jackets, sweaters, gloves, hats and boots for adults and children. They are also in need of new or “like new” pillows, shower curtains and shower curtain rings.
Please drop off your donation anytime between now and Friday, November 20, to 6 Peach Lot Place (off of North Avenue). Items can be placed in the bin outside the front door. Include your SLOBs name on your donation or write it on a sign-up sheet found in the donation bin. Any questions, contact Penny, Alex or Nicholas Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org.
1 hour of credit will go to the SLOBs member. Thank you as always to our generous SLOBs families!
Although we have waived the 10-hour requirement for this year, we have new events such as fall clean- ups, helping at Wakeman Town Farm and Sherwood Island, among others, posted on iVolunteer at https://shsslobs.ivolunteer.com . All SLOBs activities will be outside, so dress accordingly and remember to wear your SLOBs t-shirt. All volunteers must adhere to CT Health Department and Westport Weston Health Department COVID 19 protocols. Volunteers must wear masks, wash hands/use hand sanitizer, and maintain social distancing recommendations of 6 feet where feasible. In addition, we would ask that volunteers self monitor and not attend events if they are experiencing symptoms related to COVID 19.
