Membership

 

Membership for the 2021-2022 school year is closed.  

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • All volunteer opportunities are posted on ivolunteer.
  • Use your student email or if parent/guardian, only ONE email as your hours are tracked on ivolunteer via your email address.
  • If you sign up to volunteer, you need to be there! If you have a conflict, please notify the liaison ASAP. “No-shows” result in 1/2 hour credit deduction.
  • Meetings are a requirement of being a member.
  • Participation in Service Sunday is a requirement of being a SLOB. 
  • Boys  must complete 10 hours of service and parents 5 hours during the academic school year.  

Membership is open to all boys attending Staples High School and their parents or guardians. The son is considered the member with his parent or guardian as his mentor. There is mandatory parent involvement.

Purpose

The mission of this organization is for parents and sons to initiate and promote educational and charitable endeavors that foster community responsibility as well as strengthen their parent-son relationship.

Membership

Open to all boys attending Staples High School and their parents or guardians. The son is considered the member with his parent/guardian as his mentor. There is mandatory parent involvement.

Financial Obligation

Dues will be charged to help fund both the organizational and philanthropic endeavors of the league. Dues are $25 per son, per academic year. *Scholarships are available to any family for whom this is a hardship. Contact VP Membership in confidence at membership@shsslobs.com

Meetings

General Meetings will normally be held seven times during the academic year in the evenings at Staples High School.  Day of the week and starting time may vary to accommodate differing schedules of boys and parents.

Membership Requirements

Boys and parents are encouraged to attend all meetings. Boys are  required to complete a minimum of ten (10) service hours during the academic year for philanthropic organizations designated by the league. Parents are normally required to complete a minimum of five (5) service hours but are encouraged to complete all service hours with their son(s). 

Volunteering

All volunteer opportunities are discussed at the meetings. SLOBs Blast emails are distributed to all members on a regular basis detailing volunteer opportunities and providing contact information for boys and parents to volunteer. Treasurer

To receive reimbursement of organization expenses and make deposits, please use the attached form.

SLOBs is a tax exempt organization. Use the tax-exempt-certificate when making purchases.
